There are a lot of other things that are important that are bigger wildcards, but just as formulaic than standardized tests.

1. Essays- Admissions essays are like sales pitches. Not all of us are essay writers, but we do need to put ourselves on paper. My suggestion is that you get all of yourself on paper. Write as much as you can and then have other people read it and see what they find compelling.

2. Do not let others over edit, but do make sure you don't have any grammatical errors. I think admissions officers have a million pet peeves now about misspelled words or improper grammar because they are reading amateur essays all day.

3.  If you don't have the help you need, then you might want to try EssayEdge.com Admissions Essay Help. It is perfectly legal and it won't hurt as long as you make sure the end product still sounds like you! I myself didn't use essay edge, but I also didn't get into my early school and so I can't really tell you if it works or not.
